Triturus-JAR 1.0 (final) and terrainServer 1.0-SNAPSHOT available

Benno Schmidt

Here's some news about the current 3-d artifacts:

Triturus release 1.0 is available. Here are the URLs:

JAR file: http://52north.org/maven/repo/releases/org/n52/v3d/52n-v3d-triturus/1.0.0/

Source code: https://svn.52north.org/svn/3d/triturus/

The Triturus Java library offers these features:

* Basic feature geometries (3-D point sets, line-strings, elevation grids, TINs etc.)

* Gridding algorithms for scattered data points

* Readers for various data formats (e.g., XYZ files and ArcInfo ASCII grids)

* Simple file export (e.g., ASCII files, VRML scene descriptions)

* Generation of simple POV-Ray scene descriptions

* Cross-section generation for elevation grid models

Note, that classes offering multi-terrain support (e.g. to visualize hydrologic structures) will be checked in quite soon (1.1-snapshot)!

The Triturus library is used by the 52n terrainServer 1.0, which is available as 1.0-snapshot release.

The 52n terrainServer offers these features:

* HTTP Get elevation query service

* Cross-section-generation

* Web-based VRML/X3D visualization

Note that there is no WTS support in this snapshot release (yet).

An installation manual will follow in December 2012!

Kind regards,

Benno

Hi,

that's great to hear :-)

Both, the anticipated multi-terrain support and the X3D output.

although I was still busy with SOS stuff, I always have the geological
models in mind, that are lying around here :-)

I'll try that soon.

Cheers,
Alex
